When Nari and Moona reached out to plan their engagement session in Porto, we knew this was going to be a fun shoot.
They weren’t looking for picture-perfect poses or stiff smiles — they wanted the real moments, cinematic frames, and a story that felt like them.
What made it even more special?
The entire session was a surprise planned by Nari for Moona.
While staying at Carris Hotel Porto Ribeira, he chose to capture their love story right at the heart of the city — where the historic textures, the Douro River, and the golden light create a timeless cinematic backdrop.
Coming from a vibrant cultural background and dreaming of a future luxury wedding in Lisbon, Nari and Moona wanted to experience the soul of Portugal first — living it, feeling it, and documenting it in a way that was raw and real.
We wandered through the Ribeira, chasing light, laughter, and those spontaneous moments you can’t script.
No staged poses, just a little direction but hey... they were so cute with each other, it was really a joy to be their bestie. No fake smiles. Just two souls genuinely present with each other, blending into the pulse of the city.
The cinematic nature of Porto — the textures, the river reflections, the dramatic skies — matched perfectly with their intensity. That´s why I call it the City of Dreams.
It wasn’t just an engagement shoot. It felt like they were in love by the first time: we were capturing the first chapter of a bigger story, one that would soon unfold in the elegance of Lisbon.
This could be you - warm hearts in Porto - the city of dreams
Want that? → Let’s talk
As a destination engagement photographer and Portugal wedding photographer, this is the kind of session I live for: emotional, honest, improvised.
The way Nari and Moona connected — effortlessly and intimately — reminded me why wedding photography and video are about so much more than just capturing images.
They’re about creating a body language that tell a story, a feeling, a truth.
Even the unpredictable weather played its part, adding mood, movement, and that little bit of chaos that makes storytelling photography come alive.
Nari and Moona are planning their wedding with the same philosophy they brought to their engagement session: a celebration that’s emotional, authentic, and unapologetically theirs.
Just like this cinematic American destination wedding at La Distillerie in Lisbon — a celebration that brought emotion, elegance, and energy into one explosive story — Nari and Moona are planning their big day with the same raw intensity. Different cultures, real connection, and a desire to do things their way.
