PORTUGAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT POUSADA DE AMARES & SOLAR DA LEVADA
Ana & João’s Celebration Blending Tradition and Rock ’n’ Roll
A Soulful Wedding in Northern Portugal
Some weddings hit different. Ana & João’s wedding day had that perfect balance between elegance, emotion, and pure unfiltered energy. From the peaceful vibe of the morning to a wild dance floor under the stars, this was one of those special days that reminds me why I do what I do — as a destination wedding photographer and videographer in Portugal.
The day began at the iconic Pousada de Amares, one of the most beautiful and historic venues for destination weddings in Northern Portugal. Set in a restored monastery surrounded by nature, this spot is a dream for any wedding photographer. As a Portugal wedding photographer, I’ve worked in some incredible places, but the stone arcades and soft morning light at the Pousada are truly cinematic. I captured Ana getting ready in silence and calm — a moment of stillness before the storm.
The civil ceremony took place later that afternoon at Solar da Levada, a venue we’ve come to know well — not just because we’re a recommended partner there, but because it genuinely is one of the best wedding venues in Northern Portugal. The setting is elegant, surrounded by green landscapes and filled with charm. It’s no surprise that couples from Portugal and abroad choose this location for their special moments.
As a wedding photographer and videographer, my role is more than just capturing pretty images. It’s about presence. I document the laughter, the tension, the hugs, the quiet seconds in between. Moments that build a real story. This wedding was full of those — from Ana’s expression walking under the stone arches, to João’s face lighting up as guests gathered for the ceremony. You could feel how personal everything was.
When it comes to wedding photography, I believe in telling the story without forcing it. It’s a photography style that leans into emotion, light, and the unexpected. That’s what we brought to Ana & João’s day — a full collection of photographs and a wedding video that reflect who they are, not just how they looked.
After the emotional vows, things got louder — in the best way. The celebration that followed was pure fire. With the help of incredible vendors like Jenny Make-up Land, Sóanimarte, and DJ Nuno Rodrigues, the atmosphere became electric. It was one of those special days where everyone — including me — ends up dancing. The music turned up, the shoes came off, and I found myself right in the middle of it all, camera in one hand, drink in the other.
The mix of old-school charm and modern energy made this a perfect example of how destination weddings in Portugal can feel — grounded in tradition, but full of life. Their wedding video plays like a short film, raw and real. No voiceovers. No filters. Just the truth of the day, cut with rhythm and soul.
For Ana & João, photography and video weren’t just extras. They were essential. The goal was to create works of art they could feel forever. That’s what we do. Whether it’s a moment between arches, a toast in the garden, or a crowd screaming lyrics late into the night — we don’t stage memories. We stay close enough to feel them.
